Philadelphia, PA- BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, 1812 Productions proudly presents the latest and greatest installment of our most popular show This Is The Week That Is! This Is The Week That Is: The New Administration will run from December 3rd, 2009 to January 3rd, 2010 at Play and Players Theatre, 17th & Delancey Streets. Opening night is Wednesday December 9th at 7pm. Tickets range from $20 to $35 and can be purchased by contacting 1812 Productions’ administrative office at (215) 592-9560 or online at www.1812productions.org.

Including a cast of Philadelphia’s most beloved comic minds, This Is The Week That Is brings audiences back year after year. With new material written to incorporate the day’s most important events, each performance of This Is The Week That Is: The New Administration promises to be its own unique and innovative experience. Joined by 1812 newcomer Brian Anthony Wilson, the cast of This Is The Week That Is brings back all of the audience favorites—the ever changing nightly news, Patsy’s The View From My Stoop, the musical reinvention of all things political—and introduces a litany of new material including a hilariously cringing insight into the future of the Republican Party, the greatest stories ever re-told in Christmas in the Catskills with Uncle Shotsie, and, in a nod to the holidays, ghostly visitations from some of the most intriguing, outrageous, and maverick-y politicians of the past, present and future.

Also, as the economy crawls out of this recession, This Is The Week That Is takes a musical look at the previous downspins of the 20th century to show us just how far we’ve come. And given the recent honor bestowed upon our president, the cast just couldn’t resist becoming groupies on Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize Tour, a presidential trip around the world—Backstreet Boys style.

Jennifer Childs, 1812’s Artistic Director and the writer, creator and director of This Is The Week That Is says, “Creating the show this year has been a completely new experience. There's a new person leading the country and, by extension, our comedy. For the past few years people have been angry, and anger can be a great source of comedy. Anger is funny. Right now the feeling is much different. There's a pervading sense of disappointment which is trickier to find the comedic key for. But we pride ourselves on being equal-opportunity offenders, so we're taking on this challenge with enthusiasm and I think our work is better for it. Honestly, this is the most fun I have all year!”

Company History
Artistic Director Jennifer Childs and Resident Artist Pete Pryor founded 1812 Productions in the spring of 1998 with a goal to entertain and educate audiences through comedy, and to support and hire local artists. 1812 Productions is a multiple Barrymore Award winning theatre company. Their education program, 1812 Outreach, has received multiple nominations and been awarded the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service.
